Far Cry 2’s Map Editor is Insanity

Now that looks insanely impressive, does it not? I like this era of gaming where devs are allowing us to make our own worlds within their games and share them. Its definitely the reason I’ll be getting this and a big reason why I am getting LBP in Oct.

The best part is that we know we’ll be able to share the maps with over users online since the feature was there for Far Cry.

What are you guys thinking you’d like to create with a map editor like this?

Wipeout HD Still on Track For a Fall Release

The last release window we received was a somewhat vague “coming soon,” which is why we’re pleased that SCEA producer Daimion Pinnock has hurled a brick through it, along with an attached note promising a slightly more specific Fall release date.

Despite becoming victim to technical foibles and rumored audio-visual assaults, Wipeout HD still looks to be a fully featured return to form for the beloved hoverfest. The PSN-exclusive game will not only boast the usual 1080p/60fps visuals, but a two-player splitscreen mode, Trophy support, 8-player online play, optional (the best kind!) SIXAXIS support, Dolby 5.1 surround sound and in-game custom soundtrack support.

More Xbox 360 Price Cuts

If you have been wanting an Xbox 360 then you might want to wait a couple more weeks. You’ll be able to get a 60GB for $300, an Elite for $400 and a Core/Arcade for $200.

It is rumored that there may be another price cut but no details yet. Even if there isn’t, these prices are perfect for the upcoming holiday season. Sony still hasn’t announced any price drops for their consoles.

Infinite Undiscovery September 2nd

For anyone into JRPGS ( Japanese Role Playing Games), Square-Enix is releasing a new one which was developed by tri-Ace entitled Infinte Undiscovery for the Xbox360 on September 2nd. Heres a shot of the some of the characters that will be in the game:

The story is about a man that was imprisoned and eventually freed by a woman named Aya, to help assist in a epic battle against the order by joining the liberal-esk army. Seems like a typical tale about good vs evil, rebels vs government, ala star wars.

XBLA: Duke Nukem 3D Passed Certification

“We officially passed final cert on our first try Friday, August 15th,” said Broussard, also revealing that the game is due for release “soon.” No price has been announced yet, but Broussard noted that it would be “about what you’d expect.” Meanwhile, be sure to check out the list of Duke Nukem 3D’s Xbox360 Achievements, which reward players for tipping strippers and stepping in poo.

Metareview: Too Human (Xbox 360)

GamePro (4/5) “Here’s an Xbox 360 exclusive that proudly wears its lofty ambitions on its sleeves, and yet sometimes seems bent on self-sabotage. That it’s so relentlessly addictive despite its aggravations is something of a minor miracle.”

IGN (78/100) “What’s been delivered in the end is a good game that ultimately falls just short of its promise due to a few questionable design decisions. One thing is for sure, though. If you love collecting random loot drops, you’ll find a lot to like here.”

Giant Bomb (3/5) “If you have an insatiable lust for items with higher stats than the ones you’re currently using, or if you get giddy at the mere thought of Diablo-style rare item naming conventions, you’ll probably be able to look past the game’s issues and have a good time. But even at its best, it’s hard to ignore Too Human’s monotonous combat and dated approach to cooperative play.”

GameSpot (55/100): “Too Human is a game of false starts and unrealized potential that infiltrate almost every aspect of the game, from story, to combat, to balance. Its elements feel stitched together, making for a patchwork quilt of a game that’s fraying at the seams.”

1UP (C-) “At the very least, the cyber-Norse concept of Too Human is a good one that’s worth exploring further, just not in this context. The game is simply schizophrenic; it attempts to be all things to all people and never succeeds in executing any of them well. The end result is in dire need of polish and focus, and that doesn’t solely apply to gameplay mechanics. There’s absolutely no reason why a game released in 2008 should have a bug where characters can fall through solid ground and into some pseudoabyss.”

Street Fighter 4 to be Released with Movie Feb 2009

Patrick Aiello, the producer for the upcoming film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (starring Kristin “Lana Lang” Kreuk!), believes Street Fighter IV will launch alongside the film. Aiello tells GameDaily that the “film and game release dates will coincide.” According to IMDB, the Street Fighter movie currently has a release date of February 27, 2009.

Was hoping to get my hands on in Winter of 08 but guess we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer.

Chrono Trigger DS on November 25th

Chrono Trigger’s DS debut promises new dungeons, touchable controls and an arena mode. Additionally, as the RPG keeps with the original’s pixelated sense of style, Square Enix has all but ensured that Thanksgiving 2008 will play out much the same way as it did some thirteen years prior, as we ignore seldom seen family members in favor of the more interesting trio of Crono, Lucca and Frog.

Halfass Alan Wake Update

“We feel we owe you all a small heads up, and our apologies for lack of updates,” he writes. “Seriously, yes, we’re still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we’ve been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already. But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward. … I’m sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we’re done.”

SOCOM: Confrontation coming Oct. 14

The popular shooter returns Oct. 14th.
Sony’s popular shooter finally returns, for 40 bucks too. Thats right, Sony is selling THREE different versions of the game. The 60 bundle will include a wireless bluetooth headset designed exclusively (but it’ll probably work for your phone, 360, etc.), and behind the screens content. The 40 disc will include no headset, but the behind the screens content. Whereas you can also download the game off Sony’s PS Store, but it will not include a headset (rofl) or behind the screens content.

From what I hear on the headset bundle, the headset fits either ear, and has a nice mute button on it. Also, Confrontation is the online-only sequel to SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs for PlayStation 2. The game features seven maps for up to 32 players at a time. Which sounds pretty kick ass. I’m probably gonna buy the Bundle this October. Can’t wait. =D

The Force Unleashed demo coming Thursday to XBLM and PSN

The demo takes place during one of the first levels in the game, known as the “TIE Fighter Construction Facility”.It will also contain a training mode which will allow the player to get a firm grasp on the Force Grip power.

I’m guessing it’ll be the level from all the previews that have been shown lately. Either way, I’m definitely looking forward to trying to this demo out.
